The changelog says that lightning is now automatically build by default. However, after installation of thunderbird-30.0.1, the calendar is missing. I even started thunderbird with a clean profile (temporarily removed ${HOME}/.thunderbird), going beyond the recommended "rm ${HOME}/.thunderbird/*/extensions.sqlite." But still, the only listed add-on is enigmail. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge =mail-client/thunderbird-38.0.1::gentoo Actual Results: No calendar plug-in available. Expected Results: No calendar plug-in should be available. # emerge --info =mail-client/thunderbird-38.0.1::gentoo Portage 2.2.20 (python 3.3.5-final-0, hardened/linux/amd64/no-multilib, gcc-4.9.2, (In reply to tka from comment #0) > Expected Results: > No calendar plug-in should be available. Oops. It is, of course, expected that the calendar plug-in *is* available
I confirm this bug very important
More info on this: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/45298
Installing it manually as extension was no problem (lightning 4.0.0.1)
I have add -r1 to the overlay ( mozilla ). It has the extension installed into distribution directory but is not being read by an existing profile. It is however read upon a new profile being created. As soon as I work out the issue with default profile will push to tree.
AFAIK the calendar plugin is now available as a separate download, please see https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/projects/calendar/
(In reply to Jouni Rinne from comment #7) > AFAIK the calendar plugin is now available as a separate download, please > see https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/projects/calendar/ It was available even before! The problem is that in the previous versions there was an USE FLAG that installed the plug-in. If the manteiner decides that from now things are changed, ok. We modify our configuration. If it was an error, better to fix it. Let us know.

As soon as I get the feedback on it I will add it to main tree.
I just updated from 38.0.1 to 38.0.1-r1 (from mozilla overlay). To make lightning work, i had to set extensions.lastAppVersion to 38.0.0 in config editor and restart thunderbird, otherwise it wont get reckognized. (source: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1173888#c7 ) This probably works out of the box when upgrading from 31.7.X, havent tried that.
-r1 committed to tree. Thanks for everyone's patients and reporting. Please remember to read the elog if you have issues.
Lightning correctly installed BUT it doesn't take the correct LOCALE. My Thunderbird speaks in italian but Lightning speaks in English. In the previous versione it was in Italian corectly.
(In reply to Silvio from comment #12) > Lightning correctly installed BUT it doesn't take the correct LOCALE. > My Thunderbird speaks in italian but Lightning speaks in English. > In the previous versione it was in Italian corectly. I can confirm this behavior.

Open a new bug please, do not highjack a bug that is already closed unless it is a duplicate issue of said bug.
Done, bug: #552594
