Description Ed Wildgoose 2004-06-21 07:57:19 UTC
Iproute2 is now being maintained at:
http://developer.osdl.org/dev/iproute2/download/

This is good news and he appears to have applied all the patches that Gentoo currently applies (possibly except the misc-deb-fixes one - email sent to confirm whether it's still required).

I haven't tested a new ebuild, but superficially the old one seems to just need location updating and not to apply those patches. It may be 2.6 specific though which does present a slight problem

Reproducible: Always

i e-mailed alexy 2 months ago (~20th of april) asking about iproute2 status ...

i sent him cleaned up Gentoo and Debian patches and he said he'd look into including them ...

Confirmed from a chat with the new maintainer (Stephen Hemminger), that Alexey has passed over maintance rights to him now.

The point is that all those patches do seem to have been assimilated into this new tree (there is a bk tree). Quite a lot of other stuff seems to have gone in as well. This looks active and looks like the real deal...

Although the current latest is 2.6.7 only, the Stephen wrote that there should be a new build out this week with some extra config stuff to make it more general purpose.

I would suggest waiting for this new build and then I/you/someone else can look at testing a modification of the current ebuild to use this new source.
