FreeCol has got several new versions 0.11.1, 0.11.2 and 0.11.3. They might be compatible with JDK1.7

This is a quickly updated version, it installs freecol and the game is playable. You might want to convert the sed into a patch before adding it to the main tree. This version also has an additional dependency, dev-java/jorbis from bug 251008 not yet in the main tree (the ebuild from 2011 still works, just needs some minor cleanups like EAPI bump and added slotted dependencies).

Portage still embarrassingly ships freecol-0.10.7. Please update to 0.11.5

freecol-0.11.5 is in portage.  I'm holding off on later versions until jdk-1.8 is stable in portage.
