Description Jaak Ristioja 2015-02-24 11:35:32 UTC
ownCloud 8.0.0 no longer ships with community-only apps by default. This includes the Contacts, Calendar, Tasks, Chat and Documents apps.

See https://doc.owncloud.org/server/8.0/admin_manual/whats_new_admin.html for details.

Before the user upgrades to 8.0.0, at minimum a notice should be displayed stating that these are no longer installed by default.

PS: However, I'd prefer the ebuild to automatically install these apps also.

Indeed I saw this as an improvement, as we can now provide a more basic version by default, and customize it in a few clicks (the removed core apps will all be listed in the "Recommended" view)

I can add an elog message, suggesting to visit the Recommend part in applications (will do with the upcoming 8.0.1 bump), though I am not sure about force installing these apps. Maybe behind an "extras" USE-flag or something like that?

8.0.1 is late, so I added an elog warning in current 8.0.0 (and leave it in later bumps).

As all these apps are just a click away (and could receive independant bumps between core versions), I am not sure I will add an option to grab them via the ebuild
