That's not a compiler error.
Comment 5 Ralf Ramsauer 2015-01-14 19:32:13 UTC
Solved my problem:

Quick fix:
1. Install libusb-compat
2. Emerge avrdude

Explanation:
My system had libusb version 1.0.19. Avrdude seems to need version 0.1.
emerging libusb-compat seems to provide the old API which gets used by avrdude.

Why would you open a bug report if you're not interested in fixing it for everyone? It's not a WORKSFORME if there is a general solution to a bug anyone else might run into, and apparently there is one.

Sure I want to work it for everybody.
I opened this bug report, because I did not know how to fix it and obviously it was not an error of mine.
After days of playing around, this solution turned out to work for ME, but I don't know and I can't say if this is good for a "general solution" of this bug, so I marked it as "worksforme".

cheers
