Description Toralf Förster gentoo-dev 2015-01-10 10:45:24 UTC
Well, FWIW the host of this chroot box does not have IPv6 enabled but that shouldn't matter, or ?:

These are the packages that would be merged, in reverse order:

Comment 1 Markos Chandras (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2015-01-11 10:51:30 UTC
clearly CONFIG_CHECK="IPV6" is not enough. I will have a look.
Comment 2 Markos Chandras (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2015-01-11 11:14:23 UTC
Could you post your kernel config as well please?
Comment 3 Markos Chandras (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2015-01-11 11:21:10 UTC
Would you also be able to compile the following manually and provide me with the compilation output and the exit code?

#include <sys/types.h>
#include <sys/socket.h>
#include <netinet/in.h>

main()
{
    int fd;
    struct sockaddr_in6 foo;
    fd = socket(AF_INET6, SOCK_STREAM, 0);
    exit(fd);
}
Comment 4 Markos Chandras (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2015-01-11 11:40:23 UTC
Actually Jeroen (https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=530420#c1) is probably right. We should be checking for LINK not for RUN since your kernel for whatever reason my not like IPv6 but that should not prevent the userland to link. Worst case you get some runtime failures. I will be updating the patch in the meantime. Let me know if that somehow makes your problem go away.
Comment 5 Markos Chandras (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2015-01-11 11:42:58 UTC
+  11 Jan 2015; Markos Chandras <hwoarang@gentoo.org> bwping-1.7-r1.ebuild,
+  files/bwping-1.7-buildsystem-configurable-ipv6.patch:
+ Revert latest commit for bug #530420. We shouldn't care if we can't support
+ the ipv6 case. We only need know whether we can build the support for it. So
+ replace RUN with LINK. This may also fix bug #536184

I did it on the host :

$> cat x.c
#include <sys/types.h>
#include <sys/socket.h>
#include <netinet/in.h>

main()
{
    int fd;
        struct sockaddr_in6 foo;
            fd = socket(AF_INET6, SOCK_STREAM, 0);
                exit(fd);
                }

$> gcc x.c
x.c: In function ‘main’:
x.c:10:17: warning: incompatible implicit declaration of built-in function ‘exit’ [enabled by default]
                 exit(fd);
                 ^

$> zgrep 6 /etc/portage/make.conf
CHOST="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu"
     vim-syntax -bindist -hpn -ipv6 -ldap"
MAKEOPTS="-j6"

$> zgrep IPV6 /proc/config.gz
# CONFIG_IPV6 is not set
