I was working with a user in #gentoo who was trying to use an x86 installcd image from a USB flash drive on a newer Windows tablet. The initrd could not find the squashfs image.

I suspect this is due to CONFIG_USB_XHCI_HCD being disabled in the kernel.

Not a dupe; that bug is for the amd64 installcd.

Releng seems to maintain the configs separately, so yes.

We don't need separate bugs for amd64 and x86 since it's the same person doing the maintenance of both (me).

The kernel config has been updated for both arches, but now we seem to be hitting an issue with genkernel (bug 554202).
