Comment 1 Mike Gilbert gentoo-dev 2014-11-30 19:15:16 UTC
Probably needs some kind of use dependency on openssl. And possibly a new use flag if ecdsa should be optional.
Comment 2 Tim Harder gentoo-dev 2014-11-30 20:22:55 UTC
I'm going to need more info since it builds fine under hardened for me.

For example, does this happen with earlier versions of unbound, what version of openssl do you have installed, what use flags enabled, etc. Also will probably will need the related config.log file.
Comment 3 Mike Gilbert gentoo-dev 2014-11-30 20:25:44 UTC
(In reply to Tim Harder from comment #2)

Try it with dev-libs/openssl[bindist], which disables EC crypto for patent reasons.
Comment 4 Mike Gilbert gentoo-dev 2014-11-30 20:27:41 UTC
Oh, but note that installing openssl[bindist] will break many reverse deps (like openssh) until you rebuild them.

config log

I can confirm this with unbound-1.4.22-r1 and dev-libs/openssl[bindist]. config.log attached.
Comment 6 Toralf Förster gentoo-dev 2014-11-30 20:50:49 UTC
yep - the USE flag "bindist" was already set in the hardened ~amd64 image I used to setup the chroot image 2 month ago :

$ grep bindist amd64-hardened/etc/portage/make.conf
USE="bindist mmx sse sse2 mbox fortran"

I just added "mbox fortran" IIRC
Comment 7 Tim Harder gentoo-dev 2014-11-30 23:26:31 UTC
Fixed in 1.5.0-r1 by adding a default enabled ecdsa use flag. Disable it if you want to use openssl with bindist enabled.
Comment 8 Jan Matějka (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2014-12-10 22:48:24 UTC
Is there a reason not to fix the stable package as well?

I just hit this issue and now I have to unmask the testing package. The error is compile time and fixing it would not affect the installed result for people who already installed it. Therefore I don't think there would be any policy violation.
Comment 9 Jan Matějka (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2014-12-10 22:57:17 UTC
Oh well, I don't have to go to the testing package when I just recompile openssl with -bindist but still ...

See bug #532000.
