Setting USE flag bindist globally prevents tribler from running. It compiles fine though. Since bindist applied to OpenSSL removes cryptographic features (EC), which are used by Tribler, I'd suggest reflecting that in Tribler dependency chain.
Do you want me to provide logs? I came to the conclusion "bindist" was responsible for tribler failing to start after having done my own investigation. Fact is tribler fails to start with an error message "AttributeError: 'module' object has no attribute 'ec_init'", which hints that m2crypto library was linked against an OpenSSL library that has no EC cryptography compiled-in due to patent issues. This is what bindist is supposed to affect.
Version 6.3.3 has [-bindist]. I will stabilize it as soon as the libav issue is sorted out.
could it be stabilized finally? ;)
