Comment 3 Andreas K. Hüttel archtester gentoo-dev 2014-09-21 14:41:20 UTC
Perl 5.16 needs to go. There is no clue on the awstats website that this is fixed in any development version.

However I've got a user report that awstats works just fine with Perl 5.18 when *not* called via mod_perl. (I've asked him to leave more details here.) So I'm removing the blocker.

The only alternatives would be a) providing a patch (not me, Diego?) or b) masking for removal.
Comment 4 Robert Förster 2014-09-22 07:53:43 UTC
i use awstats_buildstaticpages.pl via a cronscript like so:
/usr/bin/awstats_buildstaticpages.pl -awstatsprog=/usr/bin/awstats.pl -update -month=[date('n')] -year=[date('Y')] -config=/etc/awstats/awstats.gmake.conf -dir=/srv/cust/webs/web2/awstats/gmake.de

invoking awstats that way works, i have yet to see any error with perl 5.18.2, i have never used mod_perl though.

here is hope that a mod_perl 2.0.9 (which is supposed to be released any time now) will fix this bug.
