Description William Throwe 2014-07-06 00:51:49 UTC
*
 * NOTE: /var/bind/named.ca has been renamed to /var/bind/named.cache
 * you may need to fix your named.conf!
 *
 * NOTE: If you upgrade from <net-dns/bind-9.4.3_p5-r1, you may encounter permission problems
 * To fix the permissions do:
 * chown root:named /{etc,var}/bind /run/named/ /var/log/named /var/bind/{sec,pri,dyn}
 * chown root:named /var/bind/named.cache /var/bind/pri/{127,localhost}.zone /etc/bind/{bind.keys,named.conf}
 * chmod 0640 /var/bind/named.cache /var/bind/pri/{127,localhost}.zone /etc/bind/{bind.keys,named.conf}
 * chmod 0750 /etc/bind /var/bind/pri
 * chmod 0770 /run/named/ /var/log/named /var/bind/{,sec,dyn}
 *

The last <net-dns/bind-9.4.3_p5-r1 ebuild was removed from the tree four years ago. Can this message be removed, or at least made conditional on the version being replaced actually being affected?

I don't know what version did the named.ca rename, but based on the ebuild history it appears to be at least as old as the permission problems.

This has been fixed in >=9.9.5_p1. Thanks!
