For the sake of completeness, the release Notes are available: http://www.digikam.org/node/714
There is new dependency on >=opencv-2.4.9 for libkface. I also had to compile opencv with use flag "threads" enabled, otherwise the build of digikam failed with: /usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/4.7.3/../../../../x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/bin/ld: _ZZN5Eigen8internal20manage_caching_sizesENS_6ActionEPlS2_E13m_l2CacheSize: TLS definition in /usr/lib64/libopencv_contrib.so.2.4.9 section .tbss mismatches non-TLS definition in CMakeFiles/digikamcore.dir/__/libs/dimg/filters/sharp/matrix.o section .bss._ZZN5Eigen8internal20manage_caching_sizesENS_6ActionEPlS2_E13m_l2CacheSize[_ZZN5Eigen8internal20manage_caching_sizesENS_6ActionEPlS2_E13m_l2CacheSize] /usr/lib64/libopencv_contrib.so.2.4.9: could not read symbols: Bad value Now the build passed (amd64) with unchanged ebuilds. The opencv dependency needs to be updated for portage.
Ping.
..and they just released version 4.2.0!!!
digiKam Software Collection 4.2.0 https://www.digikam.org/node/715
*** Bug 519106 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
Locally, I copied the 4.0.0 ebuild from the Gentoo repository to my local overlay, changed the download link to the 4.2.0 version http://download.kde.org/stable/digikam/digikam-4.2.0.tar.bz2 and then emerged this on amd64, it worked fine. So I support the request to update gentoo to 4.2.0.
I've been using 4.1.0 and 4.2.0 like that, no issues on AMD64.
In fact it needs media-libs/libkgeomap and media-plugins/kipi-plugins bump too for wider USE flags set.
libkgeomap and kipi-plugins both 4.2.0 (the ebuilds in portage renamed to 4.2.0 in local overlay) compile and seem to work fine. Bump.
Thanks for reporting. This is fixed in cvs now. Please sync in some hours to get the changes. + + 15 Aug 2014; Johannes Huber <johu@gentoo.org> +digikam-4.2.0.ebuild: + Version bump, bug #515874. + @dilfridge Please double check.
What about changing the dependency of libkface to >=opencv-3.4.9[threads]? Without "threads" use flag it is not possible to finish compilation of digikam (at least on my computer - tested with digikam-4.1.0).
Thanks for the update :) (In reply to Oldrich Jedlicka from comment #13) libkface-4.2.0 and digikam-4.2.0 builds fine here with opencv[-threads]
Built from official portage, seems to work fine, thank you :)
I finally updated to 4.2.0 and I can confirm that I do not have problem with opencv[-threads].
