Perhaps I'm ignorant here, how does this involve the bug you mentioned? xine
support was removed because of lack of maintainership.

------- Comment #2 From Ernst Persson 2004-05-21 17:56:46 0000 -------
It seemed more like the bug was about m4a support, that was only supported with
the xine backed earlier.
M4a works with the gstreamer backend now.

------- Comment #3 From foser (RETIRED) 2004-05-24 10:00:58 0000 -------
Afaik there's still a gstreamer change needed to complete m4a support, so thats
why I wanted to wait until gst-0.8.2 is out before adding this release.

------- Comment #4 From Ernst Persson 2004-06-07 10:06:58 0000 -------
gst-0.8.2 and .3 out!

------- Comment #5 From foser (RETIRED) 2004-06-08 03:22:19 0000 -------
it's plugins changes that are needed iirc

------- Comment #6 From alex f 2004-06-09 12:35:39 0000 -------
Yup, new gstreamer is out. So the m4a support is there. See Bug #53202

Any update on this? I'm looking to using rhythmbox for the m4a support. I
emerged it but was disappointed to find out the version in portage doesn't
support it......

------- Comment #9 From Hinrik Örn Sigurðsson 2004-06-27 00:03:03 0000 -------
0.8.5 is out, any news ?

------- Comment #10 From Mike Messmore 2004-06-30 12:52:43 0000 -------
Made ebuild for Rhythmbox 0.8.5 by copying the 0.8.3 one. Using
gst-plugins-0.8.2, everything works dandy with m4a files.

Are we going to see a version bump in gentoo anytime soon for rhythmbox? It's
still at 0.8.3, and now 0.8.5 is apparently available.........waiting for m4a
support.......it'd be nice to have it in gentoo natively rather than having to
do it by hand.

------- Comment #13 From foser (RETIRED) 2004-07-12 06:24:11 0000 -------
yep, added 0.8.5 (faad USE for m4a support), marked 0.8.3 x86 stable.

Sorry it took so long.
