Description Juergen Rose 2014-06-22 04:47:22 UTC
My NFS servers does no more provide the NFS service. Probably due to the upgrade to net-fs/nfs-utils-1.3.0. /usr/lib64/systemd/system/nfsd.service and /usr/lib64/systemd/system/rpc-mountd.service disappeared. There are now :

rose@orca:/home/rose(10)$ qlist -v nfs-utils | grep systemd/system
/usr/lib/systemd/system/nfs-client.target
/usr/lib/systemd/system/nfs-blkmap.target
/usr/lib/systemd/system/rpc-svcgssd.service
/usr/lib/systemd/system/rpc-statd.service
/usr/lib/systemd/system/rpc-statd-notify.service
/usr/lib/systemd/system/rpc-gssd.service
/usr/lib/systemd/system/nfs-utils.service
/usr/lib/systemd/system/nfs-server.service
/usr/lib/systemd/system/nfs-mountd.service
/usr/lib/systemd/system/nfs-idmapd.service
/usr/lib/systemd/system/nfs-config.service
/usr/lib/systemd/system/nfs-blkmap.service
/usr/lib/systemd/system/var-lib-nfs-rpc_pipefs.mount
/usr/lib/systemd/system/proc-fs-nfsd.mount

There is no information, at least not by 'eselect news' which services are the replacement for /usr/lib64/systemd/system/nfsd.service and /usr/lib64/systemd/system/rpc-mountd.service.

BTW., if I try to start nfs-server, it fails with:

Looks pretty straightforward to me, nfsd.service, 'd' as in daemon, daemon as in server, so nfs-server.service
And, rpc-mountd.service, as in, nfs-mountd.service

I don't think there is a bug here at all

The problem is only (Comment 1) that nfs-server.service fails to start. Maybe I have to start some rpc* and nfs-* services in some special order. But I did not find any information about it. 'man nfs' does not say anything about systemd and services and 'eselect news list' does not report any nfs news.

It seems me that:

root@condor:/root(11)# systemctl disable nfsd.service
rm '/etc/systemd/system/multi-user.target.wants/nfsd.service'
root@condor:/root(12)# systemctl disable rpc-mountd.service
rm '/etc/systemd/system/multi-user.target.wants/rpc-mountd.service'
root@condor:/root(13)# systemctl enable rpcbind
ln -s '/usr/lib64/systemd/system/rpcbind.service' '/etc/systemd/system/multi-user.target.wants/rpcbind.service'
root@condor:/root(14)# systemctl enable nfs-server
ln -s '/usr/lib64/systemd/system/nfs-server.service' '/etc/systemd/system/multi-user.target.wants/nfs-server.service'

at the server side restores the old behaviour.

Samuli is correct ... the services changed names, so that isn't a bug. we moved from custom Gentoo services to the ones provided by upstream.

some of the warnings are probably fixed by:
http://sources.gentoo.org/net-fs/nfs-utils/nfs-utils-1.3.0.ebuild?r1=1.1&r2=1.2

but otherwise, i don't use systemd, so can't debug much further.

This is the only error I see, and it looks like vapier resolved it by removing any reference to that script.

Sorry about the trouble during this transition, but we currently make no attempt to enable/disable units during package installation. Perhaps an ewarn would be appropriate, but I don't know enough about this package to write it.

Please reopen this bug! I still have at least the problem with /usr/lib/systemd/scripts/nfs-utils_env.sh. How should I remove the references to that script?
Should I remove the line
ExecStart=/usr/lib/systemd/scripts/nfs-utils_env.sh
from /usr/lib/systemd//system/nfs-config.service? Then there would be not any ExecStart line in /usr/lib/systemd//system/nfs-config.service. Or should I remove the /usr/lib/systemd//system/nfs-config.service file?

Re-install nfs-utils-1.3.0. vapier already fixed that, but chose not to revbump the ebuild for some reason.
