The current version of Gnome 2.6 does not provide the option to remove volume icons from the desktop (i.e. CD-ROM's that are auto-mounted, etc). Currently, the only solution is to turn off desktops entirely. Fortunately, a patch was released on bugzilla.gnome.org (see URL) that adds an option for just this purpose. As a frequent GNOME user, I and many others would appreciate it if those responsible for the GNOME packages could include this patch, which has been tested by the GNOME developers and committed. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
reasonable request.. upstream committed.
I assume that if this were finished with the bug would be closed, but I thought I'd ask anyway :> Has any progress been made in including this?
Added this one to 2.6.3-r1 now.
don't forget to add the rev bump to the meta tracker.
