After a long hiatus following Aaron Swartz's death, html2text is picking up again [1] with a new GitHub organization [2] and PyPI release [3]. It would be nice to bump the buggy old package to the new version, and start tracking development again :). I wouldn't ordinarily submit a bug for this, but it's been two years since the last upstream release, and I expect folks have stopped checking ;). [1]: https://github.com/aaronsw/html2text/issues/91 [2]: https://github.com/html2text/html2text although maybe that's not entirely up to speed yet? The 2014.4.5 tag is in https://github.com/Alir3z4/html2text [3]: https://pypi.python.org/pypi/html2text Reproducible: Always
Bumping PYTHON_COMPAT to include Python 3.4 (now that it's stable) would be nice too ;).
Thanks for bringing this to attention! +*html2text-2014.4.5 (21 Apr 2014) + + 21 Apr 2014; Sebastian Pipping <sping@gentoo.org> +html2text-2014.4.5.ebuild: + Bump to 2014.4.5, support test suite (bug #508172) + (In reply to W. If that matters to you please open a dedicated bug: all depdencies will need to support 3.4 too, but not all do yet. PS: Upstream bug opened: https://github.com/Alir3z4/html2text/issues/11

Sounds good. I'll see what I can do here. The feedparser dependency (importing the private _getCharacterEncoding!) definitely needs to go… > PS: Upstream bug opened: https://github.com/Alir3z4/html2text/issues/11 Always good to see bugs upstreamed. Thanks again for the quick fix :).
