Undefined reference to zsocket_* (initial breakage)

app-admin/rsyslog-7.4.6 will _not_ build against the in-tree czmq-1.2.0-r1 which also will not build against zeromq-4.0.1-r1.

Working combinations:
zeromq-3.2.4 =~ czmq-1.4.1 <=> rsyslog-7.4.6 compiles cleanly
zeromq-4.0.1-r1 =~ czmq-2.0.3 <=> undefined symbols prevents rsyslog-7.4.6 from building

As per http://czmq.zeromq.org/page:get-the-software
The previous stable package is v1.4.1, from 2013/05/01:
The latest stable release is v2.0.3, from 2013/11/16:

The major change is support for ZeroMQ 4.0's new security infrastructure. The API is compatible with previous stable release (some deprecated methods were removed).

The in-tree ebuild for 1.2.0-r1 _is_ capable of being used for 1.4.1 and 2.0.3 if you remove the 'sed' invocation on line 27 (or comment it out).

Ok as seen with @jlec, I started by bumping czmq in tree with specific deps on zeromq versions.

Comment 6 Ultrabug gentoo-dev 2013-12-24 11:34:48 UTC
Ok after testing all combinations I find this the correct answer to this problem :

zeromq? ( >=net-libs/zeromq-3 <net-libs/czmq-2 )

It's fixed in tree on all versions, thanks again Allen !
