If dev-qt/qtxmlpatterns:5 is emerged after dev-qt/qtdeclarative:5, the QtQuick.XmlListModel extension is missing.
dev-qt/qtxmlpatterns:5 must be emerged before dev-qt/qtdeclarative:5 to get this extension.

Is it possible to add a USE flag in dev-qt/qtdeclarative:5 to add a dependency to dev-qt/qtxmlpatterns:5 ?

Yeah, in fact I'm sure there are more "automagic" deps in qtdeclarative:5 (and in qt5 packages in general)
