Evolution stopped working (launch into a blank window) after upgrading geocode-glib to 0.99.1. Downgrading back to 0.99.0 gets evolution working again. Sorry, forgot to mention evolution version, I'm running 3.8.4.
Trying to build evolution-3.8.4 against geocode-glib-0.99.1 craps out during configure claiming the "geo" package isn't found.
Exactly the same happened here (~amd64). Actually evolution's configure.ac says "Restrict geocode-glib dependency to 0.99.0 so we don't have to chase subsequent API changes". With 0.99.1 not only the version number changed but also the pkg-config name was changed from geocode-glib to geocode-glib-1.0 so it's not even found by the name geocode-glib any more... Maybe that means 1.0 API stabilization is imminent and the restriction to 0.99.0 could be removed ;-)
There is a patch in upstream report for evo (but I cannot do much more right now as I am using my mobile phone to connect to internet now :S)

geocode-glib >= 0.99.1 are ready for upcoming 3.10 releases, not 3.8 :|
I guess this is normal as that newer geocode-glib versions are for 3.10
