workaround:
EXTRA_ECONF=--disable-liblightdm-qt5 emerge -1 lightdm -av
^ this compile and install fine

IMHO a use flag qt5 should be added to the ebuild, possibly mutually exclusive with qt4.

If you don't want/cannot install qt5 on your system I can do a trivial patch and some testing, just ping me

I've uninstalled x11-misc/lightdm since the old version create dependancy problems and kdm suffice. Ping if someone want testing or something else

Looking at the ebuild in the unity-gentoo overlay provides another workaround:

MOC5=/usr/lib64/qt5/bin/moc emerge -1 lightdm

Got it by this bug too.

The workaround "MOC5=/usr/lib64/qt5/bin/moc" works, and i got both qt4 and qt5 liblightdm installed.

Hey Marcos, you could have a look into phonon-4.7.1.ebuild we are using the multibuild eclass to build against qt4 and qt5. So maybe this could help here too or add qt herd in cc as they more knowledge about the used moc.

Qt5 is not in the tree so I can't support something that is not in the portage tree yet. Re-assigning to Qt since this bug comes from the Qt overlay.

(seems like the 1.10.0 package has some support for Qt5. Maybe worth some examination by those using Qt5. See the configure.ac for more details)

What about just turning off Qt5 support for now?

I have no idea why this is assigned to qt, we don't appear anywhere in lightdm's metadata.

The build system is clearly broken, as it assumes that it can generate moc code for both qt4 and qt5 simply by invoking "moc"...

Markos, if you don't want to deal with qt5 yet, disable qt5 support altogether as suggested in comment #1 (even without a USE flag, just forcefully disable it).

I disabled Qt5 in >=1.8.5-r1
