After updating this firmware package emaint complained. It seems that the RDEPEND blocker on rt61-firmware still calls it net-wireless/rt61-firmware, but before that package was removed competely it was moved to sys-firmware/rt61-firmware and that trips emaint. As sys-firmware/rt61-firmware got removed 3 month ago, it might be simpler to just remove it from the RDEPEND.
- !net-wireless/ar9271-firmware - !net-wireless/i2400m-fw - !net-wireless/libertas-firmware - !net-wireless/rt61-firmware - !net-wireless/rt73-firmware - !net-wireless/rt2860-firmware - !net-wireless/rt2870-firmware Looks like all these can be safely removed. I'm going to do this for latest stable through 99999999 if no one objects in short order.
3 months is probably not enough, some people might still have it installed.
(In reply to Chí-Thanh Christopher Nguyễn from comment #2) > 3 months is probably not enough, some people might still have it installed. So should we fix it to sys-firmware/* like it was when it was removed? Seems like that is safe enough for the next 3 months.
Changing the blockers to sys-firmware/* is fine with me.
Note: Only net-wireless/rt61-firmware needs to be migrated! Looking in the CVS it seems the other firmwares were directly dropped from net-wrieless and were never moved to sys-firmware. (My guess would be that even then these other firmware files where already part of linux-firmware and so they were directly dropped instead of being moved.)
