Description Allan Wegan 2013-06-18 06:29:57 UTC
Like stefan-tiger (thread starter in linked forum post) i emerged dev-lang/gnat-gcc-4.3.5 and it did not install appropriate symlinks to the executables like gnatmake.
When i call /usr/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/gnat-gcc-bin/4.3/gnatmake directly, it does not find core ADA libs like system.ads.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge dev-lang/gnat-gcc-4.3.5
2. execute gnatmake with an ada source file as parameter

Actual Results:
"bash: gnatmake: command not found"

Expected Results:
Output from gnatmake trying to make what is contained in the source file.

Did you source /etc/profile after emerge, as you were asked in postinst message? This is exactly the symptom you would get in such situation. It should work anyway after the next login..

Also, check what "eselect gnat list" and "eselect gnat show" tell you. They should point to a valid gnat install. If not, then there is the problem (a different one).

I don't know. But most probably i did, since i most likely emerged only gnat in that emerge call and therefore the message (if there was one) should have been on screen after the emerge.

> It should work anyway after the next login..

I solved it by emerging dev-lang/gnat-gcc-4.4.7 .

I don't remember, whether i executed that commands then. Now they both show x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-gnat-gcc-4.4 as only and current compiler/version.

Maybe, the bug can be closed as fixed as dev-lang/gnat-gcc-4.4.7 solved the issue. ;)
