The start-stop-daemon applet in busybox is not compatible with OpenRC init scripts. It is possible for a user to rebuild busybox to not include the applets; however, I am wondering if we should do one of two things in gentoo. 1. One fix could be to disable the start-stop-daemon applet by default. 2. Another fix could be to make busybox's start-stop-daemon compatible with OpenRC's. What are your thoughts?
I'd like to do both if #2 is accepted upstream. Additionally, the section in saveconfig contains: # # Debian Utilities # so, building it by default seems a bit unnecessary anyway.
Since this is a Debian utility, I vote that we disable it in Gentoo's default busybox configuration.
This is disabled by default in 1.23.1-r1.
