After some googling, I suspect the use of the "typename" reserved word is not allowed outside of a template definition. The offending line is not a template definition, its a typedef. I made the following change: 66c66 < typedef QSharedPointer< QMultiHash< Akonadi::Collection::Id, Akonadi::Item::Id> > MultiHashPointer; --- > typedef QSharedPointer< QMultiHash< typename Akonadi::Collection::Id, typename Akonadi::Item::Id> > MultiHashPointer; to nepomukfeederagent.cpp and now it complies without errors. I want to second the issue. This is my GCC version, gcc (Gentoo 4.4.5 p1.2, pie-0.4.5) 4.4.5 I believe the issue is related to GCC 4.4.x Daiajo, I'm not sure how to use your workaround to get the package to merge. I definitely know it is a source code error that needs fixed.
Workaround (in more detail) 1. cd to the ebuild working directory, in my case cd /var/tmp/portage/kde-base/kdepim-runtime-4.10.1/work/kdepim-runtime-4.10.1_build/agents/nepomukfeeder 2. save the original, then edit the offending source: vim nepomukfeederagent.cpp 3. go to line 66 and remove the 2 offending "typename" 4. do a diff & make sure it matches mine 5. add "noauto" options to features in make.conf (etc/portage/make.conf) 6. run the rest of the ebuild manually: ebuild /usr/portage/kde-base/kdepim-runtime/kdepim-runtime-4.10.1.ebuild compile ebuild /usr/portage/kde-base/kdepim-runtime/kdepim-runtime-4.10.1.ebuild install ebuild /usr/portage/kde-base/kdepim-runtime/kdepim-runtime-4.10.1.ebuild qmerge ebuild /usr/portage/kde-base/kdepim-runtime/kdepim-runtime-4.10.1.ebuild postinst 7. put make.conf back the way it was n.b., kde team don't look keen to even acknowledge this as a bug.

This is fixed upstream in master, but /of course/ it wasn't backported to KDE/4.10.
I filed a review request upstream to backport this to 4.10
