Description Jason Bucata 2013-03-24 18:51:46 UTC
I upgraded to qpdfview 0.4 and suddenly it won't open any PDF files. Instead it just displays a dialog box "Could not open '[filename]'". No other error message is given.

After downgrading to 0.3.7-r2 it suddenly works. So it's evidently not (directly) related to any libraries.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Open PDF file with right-click menu or File|Open inside the app

Actual Results:
Error dialog box

Expected Results:
Display the PDF!

Did your build it with USE="pdf"?

Please attach build.log
Comment 2 Jason Bucata 2013-03-25 01:16:42 UTC
Heh! Somehow I managed to miss that that flag was added. Strange that I didn't see it...

Although at first glance I question whether we ought to have a "pdf" USE flag for a package named "qpdfview"...

Sure enough, that fixed it. Closing the bug, thanks!
Comment 3 Davide Pesavento (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2013-03-25 02:59:08 UTC
I think we should enable USE=pdf by default in the ebuild.

Upstream added support for various formats(for example djvu) as plugins, pdf was splitted in such plugin too. But yeah, package name become confusing :-)

Reasonable.
