Created attachment 28264 [details] /var/tmp/portage/net-tools-1.60-r8/temp/net-tools-1.60-cleanup-list-handling.patch-2486.out this is /var/tmp/portage/net-tools-1.60-r8/temp/net-tools-1.60-cleanup-list-handling.patch-2486.out
Same problem works well when removing this patch (net-tools-1.60-cleanup-list-handling.patch) from the ebuild
hum, looking at the content of the reject file, ... what does an email has to do in a patch ? someone smoke too much crap or need some sleep
I've encountered this problem as well on a P4-M machine. The following is the output of my emerge info: ********** BEGIN emerge info Portage 2.0.50-r1 (default-x86-1.4, gcc-3.3.3, glibc-2.3.3_pre20040207-r0, 2.4.25-gentoo) ================================================================= System uname: 2.4.25-gentoo i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 Mobile CPU 2.00GHz Gentoo Base System version 1.4.3.13p1 Autoconf: sys-devel/autoconf-2.59-r3 Automake: sys-devel/automake-1.8.3 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86 ~x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-O3 -mcpu=pentium4 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" COMPILER="gcc3" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /etc/tomcat /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.1/share/config /usr/kde/3.2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/mozilla/defaults/pref /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O3 -mcpu=pentium4 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs buildpkg ccache sandbox" GENTOO_MIRRORS="ftp://gentoo.mirrors.pair.com/ http://www.gtlib.cc.gatech.edu/pub/gentoo ftp://ftp.gtlib.cc.gatech.edu/pub/gentoo http://gentoo.mirrors.pair.com/" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="X alsa apm arts avi berkdb bonobo cdr crypt cups dvd encode esd foomaticdb gdbm gif gnome gpm gtk gtk2 gtkhtml guile imlib java jpeg kerberos krb4 ldap libg++ libwww mad mikmod motif mozilla mpeg mysql ncurses nls oggvorbis opengl oss pam pcmcia pdflib perl png python quicktime readline scanner sdl slang spell ssl svga tcpd truetype x86 xml2 xmms xv zlib" ********** END emerge info As specified in the message I received (below), I will attach the .out file identified below. * Failed Patch: net-tools-1.60-cleanup-list-handling.patch! * * Include in your bugreport the contents of: * * /var/tmp/portage/net-tools-1.60-r8/temp/net-tools-1.60-cleanup-list-handlin g.patch-3199.out
Created attachment 28280 [details] Results of emerge net-tools patch
Created attachment 28282 [details, diff] modified patch (just cvs-id line altered) Try this modified cleanup-list-handling patch. I only changed the cvs-id line. btw.: It is perfectly OK for an patch to be an e-mail... that's one of the finer things about patches ;)
thanks Lars, your modified patch applied ok did not know about the patch in email thing (nice to learn thing everyday) anyway, even if it is possible, the size of the mail is far larger than the size of the patch itself. 3426 if we keep the mail body 1828 if we remove it it's not important for a single host but as thousands of people sync their portage tree, it eats bandwidth. well, if we want to have less traffic, we should first try to replace some .gz in .ebuild by .bz2 when package manager provide both.
Thanks alot for the report, I fixed it in CVS. Should hit the mirrors in a few minutes.
