Forget to note, I already have sys-fs/udev installed.

# emerge -1av eudev

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Please attach /var/db/pkg/sys-fs/udev-197-r3/CONTENTS and /var/db/pkg/sys-fs/eudev-1_beta2-r1/CONTENTS.

I suspect that some kind of directory -> symlink migration triggered this. This should fix it:

This patch fixed this issue for me. It seems you are right: udev install files in /lib/udev (/lib is symlink to /lib64), and eudev install files in /lib64/udev.

Thank you.
Comment 6 Zac Medico gentoo-dev 2013-01-29 14:26:31 UTC
Because of the KeyError, /var/db/pkg/sys-fs/udev-197-r3/CONTENTS may now be in an inconsistent state. Before you uninstall it, you should remove any lines that refer to files that are also listed in /var/db/pkg/sys-fs/eudev-1_beta2-r1/CONTENTS. Otherwise, uninstall of udev may remove files that belong to eudev.
Comment 7 Alexander Tsoy 2013-01-29 14:38:23 UTC
I suspected this. That's why I uninstall both packages and then install eudev again. Thanks.
Comment 8 Zac Medico gentoo-dev 2013-02-12 04:19:45 UTC
This is fixed in 2.1.11.51 and 2.2.0_alpha162.
