You receive this bug because this package does not respect my system's AR/RANLIB ( x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-ar - /usr/bin/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-ar | x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-ranlib - /usr/bin/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-ranlib ) and calls directly ar - /usr/bin/ar | ranlib - /usr/bin/ranlib The possible solutions to fix this issue are: 1)Fix the buildsystem, if you can 2)inherit toolchain-funcs and use tc-export AR RANLIB 3)inherit toolchain-funcs and use emake AR="$(tc-getAR)" RANLIB="$(tc-getRANLIB)" ar rcs libploop.a uuid.o delta_read.o delta_sysfs.o balloon_util.o fsck_util.o ploop.o xml.o logger.o balloon.o lock.o fsutils.o gpt.o crc32.o merge.o util.o pcopy.o di.o cleanup.o symbols.o ranlib libploop.a
