The gropdf driver combined with a lightweight pdf viewer like mupdf makes for a useful GUI replacement for man(1). A number of a patches are presumably no longer required (the comments say they are pulled from upstream), the others may need updating for 1.22. (I currently have an unpatched 1.22.1 unstalled; everything I use groff for has worked fine with it, but I’m more of a ΤεΧnician user than a ’roffer.)
