Upgrading some older stable server installation with USE=-nls and --emptytree did lead to this error emerging sys-devel/flex-2.5.35_p10: === # cat /var/tmp/portage/sys-devel/flex-2.5.35_p10/temp/autopoint.out ***** autopoint ***** ***** PWD: /var/tmp/portage/sys-devel/flex-2.5.35_p10/work/flex-2.5.35 ***** autopoint --force autopoint: *** cvs program not found autopoint: *** Stop. === After manually upgrading sys-devel/gettext-0.18.1.1-r3 [0.17-r1], autopoint doesn't abort on missing cvs any more and merging flex-2.5.35_p10 worked. When flex would have unconditionally needed gettext (remember: I do have USE=-nls), --emptytree would have updated gettext first.
Mike, this is solved in 2.5.37, can we stabilize it?
(In reply to comment #1) i don't recall any reports related to 2.5.37 breaking apps, but maybe i missed them. let's stabilize and find out -- it's been in the tree for long enough.
