Description Mike Pagano gentoo-dev 2012-12-19 18:34:51 UTC
Arch teams, please consider stabilization of gentoo-sources-3.6.11 and vanilla-sources-3.6.11
Comment 1 Agostino Sarubbo gentoo-dev 2012-12-19 22:37:09 UTC
amd64 stable
Comment 2 Vicente Olivert Riera (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2012-12-23 09:30:50 UTC
I think i2c is still broken in 3.6.11. I can't use the sound card of my iBook G4 because when it tries to load snd_powermac module.
Same problem with 3.5.7.

Vicente, is there an open bug for this upstream?

I don't know, but there were two patches that was suposed to fix the problem:

https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/1521671/

https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/1521691/

Confirmed. I have compiled two kernel images with the same .config file. One with a fresh installed gentoo-sources, and the other one with the above patches applied. With the first one, my sound card is not detected. With the second one it works fine.
Mike, could you consider to include those patches in the gentoo kernel patch set?
Comment 6 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2012-12-29 17:26:47 UTC
Stable for HPPA.
Comment 7 Markus Meier gentoo-dev 2013-01-26 11:05:35 UTC
arm stable
Comment 8 Mike Pagano gentoo-dev 2013-01-27 16:20:17 UTC
Vicente, are these patches in 3.7 ? Does that kernel provide the proper sound for you?
