I have an ebuild, I'm in the process of testing it. Reproducible: Always
Created attachment 332078 [details] Ebuild (untested) This is the ebuild. I didn't make many changes from the rc except that the location of the release is not in the rc folder. One thing to consider is that we do not necessarily need python2 for it. I'll check that next.
Have you seen the test keyworded versions in the portage tree?
Made a couple changes, testing the new one it should be posted shortly.
Tom, I have seen them, I'm making it work with today's release.
openldap has to have kerberos support built in for ads to be ok, I'll change that soon.
Created attachment 332090 [details] Ebuild (waf issue fixed) This ebuild will start building, there are some dependency issues I think that need to be worked out. I just wanted to get all of us on the same page.
ldap use flag mandatory for ads to be enabled
It builds and installs, had one error but that was because I forgot to copy the files from /usr/portage to my /usr/local/portage. If anyone has an smb.conf for me to try I'd be happy to try it. Hopefully we can push this out masked in the next couple days.
Created attachment 332094 [details] Ebuild This is a working Ebuild. We should probably make the ads use flag require the ldap use flag otherwise it won't build.
This is not quite ready but it's the link to an overlay: https://github.com/pjschmitt/samba4-overlay
Created attachment 332096 [details] Ebuild Uploaded the wrong version. This is the version about to go in the overlay.

(In reply to comment #12) > + non-maintainer commit: Version bump (bug #446926 for samba4). Removed old. Hi Polynomial-C, hi schmitt953@yahoo.com, this wasn't a very good thing to do. Firstly, there's bug #195703 going on for ages about all the samba 4 releases. It also covered a lot of (dependency) problems in the past that somehow seem to be recurring. Secondly, adding the openldap[kerberos] breaks samba 4 rather than "repairing" it. OpenLDAP requires mit-krb5 for kerberos functionality, which atm isn't compatible with samba 4. Only heimdal is. On the "samba-technical" mailing list it was stated several times that the OpenLDAP backend is outdated for samba 4. Thus, it'd probably better to drop the "ldap" use flag for samba 4 completely, instead of introducing a "dubious" dependency. Best, Torsten
Well... this should have been written in bug 195703 *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 195703 ***
