media-libs/fontconfig-2.10.1 has been out since 27-Jul-2012.
Please bump.
It may be worthwhile to switch to .bz2 archives, since they have been available upstream for a little while.

looks like we don't need this patch for bug #310157 as it compiles smooth with -doc even when I have docbook2html installed.

I've included version 2.10.1 ebuild (almost identical to 2.9.0 except for the 310157 patch)

The gnome team needs >=fontconfig-2.10.91 for pango-1.32.6

This commit http://cgit.freedesktop.org/fontconfig/commit/?id=e181ab4de5d20fe1f70e68f66ef8332553eba206 breaks eselect-fontconfig unless --with-templatedir=/etc/fonts/conf.avail is added to src_configure.

Or eselect-fontconfig is changes to look for templates in /usr/share/fontconfig/conf.avail/
