Description Andrew Savchenko gentoo-dev 2012-10-22 23:53:00 UTC
Hello,

firefox-16.0.1 requires at least libpng-1.5.11, though ebuild requirement is 1.5.9, which causes build failure on systems with libpng-1.5.10 installed.

checking for png_get_valid in -lpng... yes
checking for png_get_acTL in -lpng... yes
configure: error: --with-system-png requested but no working libpng found
*** Fix above errors and then restart with "make -f client.mk build"
make[2]: *** [configure] Error 1

from config.log:
configure: In function 'main':
configure:14447:23: error: #error "Insufficient libpng version (10511 required)."

I've already mentioned that (and a bit more) in bug 437780, but it seems once it became security bump, people decided to ignore that comment.

Your comment was not ignored, it was simply over looked. If you would like I will be more then willing to step down as the mozilla lead and walk away from mozilla products in gentoo so you can handle them yourself. You people need to learn we developers have a life outside of gentoo that requires us to prioritize how much time we can spend working on things.

Firefox/Thunderbird-16 both have been fixed thanks for reporting.
