I have a laptop with Intel Sandy Bridge CPU and Intel HD3000 graphics, and I want get my Gentoo/FreeBSD work with X window. However, I cannot compile x11-libs/libdrm which is necessary for Xorg suite. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Set VIDEO_CARDS="intel" in /etc/make.conf 2.Run 'emerge -av xf86-video-intel' 3. Actual Results: Emerge stopped at x11-libs/libdrm. Expected Results: I am not sure if xorg-server already works with Gentoo/FreeBSD. Anyway, if not, it's OK. Created attachment 322547 [details] build.log for x11-libs/libdrm
I successfully compiled apply the patch that has been reported to upstream. Please see the following URL. https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=52549 By the way, KMS is supported from FreeBSD 9.1. I think that GPU of Sandy Bridge will not work on FreeBSD 9.0... FYI, http://wiki.freebsd.org/Intel_GPU Bug 426838 - next version Gentoo/FreeBSD 9.1
Created attachment 327026 [details] x11-libs/libdrm-2.4.39 build failure x11-libs/libdrm-2.4.35 is the last version that worked. I have dropped keywords on 2.4.37, 2.4.38 and 2.4.39. Strangely, x11-libs/libdrm-2.4.39 builds on amd64-freebsd (Gentoo Prefix) without a problem.
I see why this worked on Gentoo Prefix, but not Gentoo FreeBSD. My Gentoo Prefix install is running on FreeBSD 9.1, but my Gentoo FreeBSD install is still FreeBSD 9.0. I have reinstated the ~amd64-fbsd and ~x86-fbsd keywords in favor of a mask in the freebsd-9.0 profile. Earlier profiles should also have masks, but I do not have any Gentoo/FBSD installations older than 9.0 available for testing.

Do you fail to compile 2.4.39, even if you have applied the patch that is available in the upstream bug (see comment 2) ? > Strangely, x11-libs/libdrm-2.4.39 builds on amd64-freebsd (Gentoo Prefix) > without a problem. Perhaps, I think USE=video_cards_intel would have been masked in prefix of your environment. This problem occurs when VIDEO_CARDS="intel" contains the profile or /etc/portage/make.conf.

I did not apply that patch in my previous tests. Anyway, you are correct that applying it makes things work. I can verify that on Gentoo FreeBSD 9.1. We will need this so that we can get newer versions of mesa. x11-libs/libdrm belongs to the x11 team, so I am reassigning to them. The only thing blocking me from committing that patch is their approval.
Fixed in CVS. bsd: please unmask libdrm and rekeyword x86-video-ati-6.14.6{,-r1} as you see fit.
