Description Egor Y. Egorov 2012-08-26 04:15:31 UTC
Because bug #432700 I set global USE=lzma. But systemd is not built anyway...

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
$ emerge --info systemd

with USE=-lzma same error
Comment 3 Egor Y. Egorov 2012-08-26 04:31:14 UTC
Workaround is updgrade udev to 189 first:
emerge -av1O udev
Comment 4 Egor Y. Egorov 2012-08-26 09:00:18 UTC
On one of my PC upgrade went fine: udev going first, then systemd. At the other PC - on the contrary:

# emerge -vuDNt @world -j3 --with-bdeps=y --keep-going -a

These are the packages that would be merged, in reverse order:

Yes, it is weird. Let's see if Zac can help...

@Zac, we have two ebuilds:
- udev-189 which has !=systemd-188 [note -r1 is not blocked],
- systemd-189 which has ~udev-189.

On world update from udev-189 + systemd-188-r1, systemd is built first for some reason.

It meant to be 'from udev-188'*.

In case of blockers, emerge tries to adjust the merge order so that the blocking packages are not installed at the same time. In this case, it accomplishes that by updating systemd to the 188-r1 which is not blocked.

But systemd-188-r1 was already installed on the system.
Comment 9 Zac Medico gentoo-dev 2012-08-28 16:41:01 UTC
It seems like the problem is that you need to set DEPEND=~sys-fs/udev-189 in the systemd-189 ebuild, in order to guarantee that udev is updated before. With RDEPEND the merge order is less predictable.
Comment 10 Zac Medico gentoo-dev 2012-08-28 16:49:45 UTC
Seems to be a type in the ebuild:

DEPEND="${COMMON_RDEPEND}

Should be:

DEPEND="${COMMON_DEPEND}

COMMON_DEPEND is fixed in cvs now.

The merge order shown in comment #4 is strange, regardless of the RDEPEND/DEPEND issue. I got the correct order when I tried it here:

$ emerge -pvu systemd udev

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:
