Latest version in portage is sys-kernel/ck-sources-3.3.4-ck, although Con's update for kernel 3.5 is available now: http://ck.kolivas.org/patches/3.0/3.5/3.5-ck1/ Also, the BFS patch is now at v0.424. 3.3.4-ck has v0.420. The last update in portage was in April. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: emerge shows latest available version is the above Expected Results: upgrade to sys-kernel/ck-sources-3.5-ck
Not meaning to rush anything, but there has been no acknowlegement from the maintainer in more than 10 days. I understand it's not a priority bug, but it would be nice to know that the update is in the pipe somewhere.
Also, I think it would be great to get a 3.4 version because as far as I read linux 3.4 will be granted with long term support. @maintainers : If you need help, just ask for.
@thunderrd & WIMC : I will suggest an ebuild for 3.5 when a gentoo-sources 3.5 gets stabilized and if the official maintainers do not intervene until then. In the meantime, if you are interested, I have put as part of Bug 434106 the material needed to build a 3.4.9.
*** Bug 434106 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
I am a bit disheartened by the lack of acknowledgement by the maintainer, who on previous occasions has been helpful. I'm wondering if he has missed the bug report.
(In reply to comment #5) If it is Krzysztof that you want then I am afraid I cannot do anything to help, he marked himself "away" in mid June. If it is the material for building a 3.5 version of ck-sources that you want, you'll find the ebuild in the attachments.
Created attachment 324200 [details] ck-sources-3.5.3 ebuild Here is the ebuild for ck-sources-3.5.3 (genpatches rev 4) I nevertheless suggest people who like a gentoo-stable like flavor to stick with the 3.4.9 posted as part of Bug 434106
Eric, thanks for the info. I was not aware that Krzysztof has been away for so long. He has been helpful before when I've reported here. Meanwhile, I have placed your ebuild for 3.5.3 in my local overlay, but get an error when creating the manifest: Q6600 sys-kernel # ebuild *3*.ebuild manifest Appending /usr/local to PORTDIR_OVERLAY... !!! /usr/local/portage/sys-kernel/ck-sources-3.5.3.ebuild does not seem to have a valid PORTDIR structure I have never seen any of that output when creating manifests for anything in my local overlay, so I don't really understand why it is attempting to append /usr/local to the path, which is already established in /etc/make.conf: PORTDIR_OVERLAY="${PORTDIR_OVERLAY} /usr/local/portage/" I looked at the ebuild itself, but nothing jumps out at me as being wrong after comparing it to the 3.3.4 ebuild in /usr/portage/sys-kernel. Incidentally, I have also tried the 3.4.9 ebuild with the same result.
Of course, 2 minutes after I made my last post I discovered I hadn't set up the correct directory structure in my overlay, so ignore my stupidity :)
(In reply to comment #9) You are running ck-sources, so you can't be stupid. ;) If you need help with these versions (3.4.9 / 3.5.3), you'll be welcome here : http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-935768-highlight-.html
3.5.3 emerged without incident, thanks for the work. I'll keep it in my local overlay until portage is updated, whenever that might be (I guess when Krzysztof returns from hiatus). I might attempt the next ebuild myself, now that I have had a look at this one. It does not appear complicated. I will mention this bug/ebuild for 3.4.9/3.5.3 to Con next time I talk with him on IRC in case others are looking for the same.
Thanks bumped! you are now in metadata.xml so all bugs are assigned to you
Thanks for jumping in and helping us out, Markos. I'm confident that Eric will do a great job. It is nice to see people cooperating :)

It is nice to see people cooperating :) It seems that you accidentaly reset bug status to UNCONFIRMED. I set up again RESOLVED FIXED, but if i misunderstood something - please let me know.
