It was just introduced to the tree, but 0.8 is stable and breaks most of the gtk sharp modules, see bug 426590, which is not only limited to gtk-dotnet-sharp. So I'd suggest a fast-stable for 0.8.2, which includes the fix.
I've tested it pretty extensively and upstream says we should go for it so let's do it. It will definitely have less bugs than current stable so.....
x86 stable
stable ppc/ppc64
Stable for HPPA.
Changing to stabilising 0.8.4 and re-adding all arches. It appears that 0.8.4 should fix ALL pkg-config compatibility issues.

Stable ppc ppc64. If you want to specify any particular run tests I can do those too, given Comment 7.
0.8.5 will be the final quick stabilisation. I promise.
Stable ppc ppc64
Stable arm
amd64: ok I ran ~half of: "equery d virtual/pkgconfig | awk '{print $1}' | sed 's@^@=@' | xargs emerge -1" w/o any problems (last patience before completion tbh, I guess it's fine).
amd64 stable
