dev-db/metakit-2.4.9.3-r2 fails to compile.

Looks like a problem with includes but I'm not quite sure. I was trying to emerge flightgear.

USE="-python" emerge flightgear solved this problem. I don't know yet if
flightgear will work properly, but it's dependancy metakit compiled fine.

I fixed the hardcoded python2.3 paths. If this doesn't fully solve your
problems please reopen this bug.
