As stated in the summary, I'd like to put the vim-syntax files in a new package in order to get the syntax in my laptop without having to install puppet. If you approve this, I'll provide patches for review. TIA

Done in 3.0.1
There is no hard dependency between the puppet and puppet-syntax versions, because the vim files don't change often. I am going to check when there are updates in them and update the custom split tarball as well
