Description Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2012-05-20 18:09:59 UTC
Well, I am a bit "tired" of seen this elog messages suggesting flash is unsecure (well, we all know it need to be updated often due security issues, I think there is no need to remember it on every update) and people to install a firefox extension (for example, that is completely useless for chromium/epiphany/midori/... users)

From my point of view, this message is not really needed and only contributes to need to skip more lines when reviewing summary.log

Thanks a lot

Reproducible: Always

+1, this type of cruft makes people just not read any messages. that space should be reserved for the *really* important messages.

I don't remember the last time there was a flash update which fixed no security vulnerabilities. So the message is certainly correct, the question is who needs to see it.

> we all know it need to be updated often due security issues,

We = every flash user, or only every Gentoo developer?
Maybe the warning can be adjusted to show only on new installs, not on upgrades.

Well, I know a lot of Windows users that often know they need to keep flash updated because of security issues instead of postponing updates forever. Also, for users running stable, they will also see most of firefox/chromium stabilizations are also fixing some security bugs

I will drop it in a week if nobody disagrees.

Hey folks, I suppose dropping the message is okay; perhaps its time as useful output has passed.

Gone (no revbump).
