A bug in the glibc-2.15 release manifests itself without reproducible crashes in different applications (e.g. chromium). The cause has been bisected and a fix is available. Here a few info links: http://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=13594 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=741021 https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=133021&p=2 https://projects.archlinux.org/svntogit/packages.git/commit/trunk?h=packages/glibc&id=8e950112da65c96ad17cbd650ac9db3050343a3f Is there any chance to get this fix or revert in the tree? Reproducible: Always

i've added the fix merged upstream to our 2.15-r2 http://sources.gentoo.org/gentoo/src/patchsets/glibc/2.15/0094_all_glibc-2.15-nscd-race.patch?rev=1.1
should be all set now in the tree; thanks for the report! Commit message: Add fix from upstream for crashes in nscd code when nscd is not running http://sources.gentoo.org/sys-libs/glibc/glibc-2.15-r2.ebuild?rev=1.1
