sys-apps/iproute2-2.6.35-r3 introduced an iptables use flag and added a dependency on dev-util/pkgconfig. See bug 346137. This change appears to have been lost in sys-apps/iproute2-2.6.38 and all greater versions. I get the following QA warning when installing sys-apps/iproute2-2.6.38 from a fresh stage3: * QA Notice: command not found: * * /var/tmp/portage/sys-apps/iproute2-2.6.38/temp/environment: line 2135: pkg-config: command not found
lost because i didn't add the updates to the 9999 version which is the basis for all version bumps ...
should be all set now in the tree; thanks for the report!
