Description Julian Ospald 2012-04-29 15:14:23 UTC
Under particular circumstances when you define custom application settings in rc.xml with title-matching openbox crashes on java swing apps.

Reproducible and a known issue.

however the patch in the first link seems to work, but makes sub-windows of those java swing apps fullscreen (e.g. when you open options)

I think this should be unstabilized at least.

this issue is also present in 3.5.0_p20111019

I could not test it on the live-ebuild because that one currently fails.
Comment 2 Markos Chandras (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2012-04-29 16:28:43 UTC
There is no such thing as "unstabilization". A newer version needs to be fixed and stabilized instead
Comment 3 Julian Ospald 2012-04-29 16:39:22 UTC
that's why I added the link to the patch, so why do you close the bug instead of fixing the title?
Comment 4 Markos Chandras (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2012-04-29 16:47:56 UTC
The patch hasn't been accepted upstream (last commit was about 6 months ago). So how am I supposed to fix it? I don't want to add a non-approved patch to portage
Comment 5 Julian Ospald 2012-04-29 16:49:28 UTC
can you at least leave this bug open with fixed title in case someone encounters the same issue and is looking for a solution?
Comment 6 Markos Chandras (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2012-04-29 16:51:02 UTC
Hope it is ok now
Comment 7 Markos Chandras (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2012-06-04 19:07:01 UTC
The openbox ebuilds call epatch_user so you can add your patch to /etc/portage/patches/x11-wm/openbox for your convenience
Comment 8 Julian Ospald 2012-10-06 18:22:28 UTC
this is fixed in x11-wm/openbox-3.5.0_p20121006

that should be a candidate for stabilization, so we can close this bug finally
Comment 9 Julian Ospald 2013-04-19 22:00:44 UTC
3.5.0_p20121006 is already stabilized
