USE="pulseaudio" is handled by those desktop profile targets where it's really required, like gentoo-x86/profiles/targets/desktop/gnome/make.defaults:USE="colord eds evo gnome gnome-keyring gnome-online-accounts gstreamer nautilus pulseaudio ^^^^^^^^^^ Individual packages shouldn't be defaulting on any specific audio outputs, alsa, oss, pulseaudio, jack, portaudio, etc. Overall, a user who uses pulseaudio *most likely* has pulseaudio in make.conf, and not per package Just veryvery annoying to have to put 'net-misc/spice-gtk -pulseaudio' to package.use (CCing cardoe@ as per ChangeLog, rest from metadata.xml, no idea who's bug this really is, sorry)
This is upstream's default audio backend so I'd rather keep it the way it is.
(In reply to comment #1) That's same as assuming users not using pulseaudio would still want to run this single application with pulseaudio while rest of system is on other output, like alsa. Please think of the bigger picture which is more important.
You don't have alsa here, only pulseaudio or gstreamer. So, what should it be?
fixed in spice-gtk-0.12
