Is it possible to add this poppler beta to the tree? 

This fixes an annoying bug when converting pdf to epub
         "* pdftohtml: Flip images if they need to (Bug #32340)"

Dropping patch and renaming the 0.18.4-r1 ebuild lets it compile without any problem.

But luatex fails to compile with poppler-0.19

Of note is the support of lcms2, in favor of lcms...
but to not make things too simple, not only there's no option to choose between those two (lcms2 is preferred) - - this might not be a bad thing - but also FindLCMS2.cmake file is missing from the tarball (most likely  due to an error in toplevel Makefile.am - already filed upstream).

After adding that file, poppler builds cleanly with lcms2, if lcms support is selected.

In tree (just for reference and easier bump of 0.20.1, with fixed automagic on lcms) and p.masked (luatex doesn't compile, with likely python-poppler and other stuff breaking).
