Created attachment 308295 [details] patch from upstream that fixes this bug I've just upgraded to kde-4.8.1 and have found out that scangui from media-plugins/kipi-plugins (tried both 2.4.1 and 2.5.0) and =kde-misc/skanlite-0.8 both stop working. scangui when I tries to scan gives me window with "invalid argument" error when I try to make scan or scan preview. skanlite just crashes without any error. I've tried to install =kde-base/libksane-4.8.2 with its dependencies and everything began to work. The only bugs that seems similar in kde bugzilla is https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=294073. It was fixed by commit https://projects.kde.org/projects/kde/kdegraphics/libs/libksane/repository/revisions/0a02ff4a4602f09bae25f3a8e9b971b32bbee2ca/diff/libksane/ksane_widget_private.cpp . I have tried patch from that commit and it seems to fix the bug. I attach this patch here.
Thank you. We couldn't reproduce it, but we provide that patch in -r1 for all who have that problem. + 18 Apr 2012; Johannes Huber <johu@gentoo.org> + +files/libksane-4.8.1-scanner-polling.patch, +libksane-4.8.1-r1.ebuild: + Revision bump adds upstream patch to fix polling while scan spotted by + cyberbat <cyberbat83@gmail.com> wrt bug #411345.
