Description Bernard Cafarelli gentoo-dev 2012-04-02 20:59:59 UTC
Starting with =gnustep-base/gnustep-make-2.6.0, we switched the layout used in Gentoo by GNUstep applications. Now the time has finally come to stable the packages with this new layout :) (and applications that were waiting on new stable layout)
Original news item:
http://sources.gentoo.org/gitweb/?p=proj/gentoo-news.git;a=blob;f=2011/2011-04-26-gnustep-new-layout/2011-04-26-gnustep-new-layout.en.txt;h=ca24ef63993b259288e6dc0cac28d2e48c90012b;hb=ba24f2cece5ae10bae8d0748385d3f5901f2d1db

Old layout installed files in /usr/GNUstep, while the new one uses standard FHS

For new installations, you can test installing some gnustep-apps packages (gorm, systempreferences, terminal, simpleagenda, cenon for example)
For existing installations, gnustep-make should elog about the need to run gnustep-updater. Running it without arguments will update packages with files installed in /usr/GNUstep

For later uses, gnustep-updater with -l option will also rebuild packages when the libobjc used changes (most likely when going from gcc 4.5 to 4.6). Again gnustep-make will warn about a changed libobjc and points to gnustep-updater

And now for the list of packages to stable:

* amd64, ppc, ppc64, sparc, x86:
 * gnustep-base/gnustep-updater-0.2
 * gnustep-base/gnustep-make-2.6.2

* amd64, ppc, sparc, x86:
 * gnustep-base/gnustep-base-1.24.0-r1
 * gnustep-base/gnustep-gui-0.22.0
 * gnustep-base/gnustep-back-art-0.22.0
 * gnustep-base/gnustep-back-cairo-0.22.0 (default backend in virtual)
 * gnustep-base/gnustep-back-xlib-0.22.0
 * virtual/gnustep-back-0.22.0

* amd64, ppc, x86:
 * gnustep-libs/cenonlibrary-3.9.4 and gnustep-apps/cenon-3.9.5
 * gnustep-libs/highlighterkit-0.1.2: test with gnustep-apps/gemas-0.3
 * gnustep-libs/dbuskit-0.1 and gnustep-apps/simpleagenda-0.42.2
 * gnustep-apps/aclock-0.4.0
 * gnustep-apps/easydiff-0.4.0
 * gnustep-apps/gmines-0.2
 * gnustep-apps/gworkspace-0.9.0

* amd64, x86:
 * gnustep-apps/gorm-1.2.16

Thanks, and good luck!
