Guys, I built a new gentoo system, and splashimage does not work. Have tried accessing forums, google, etc... but it seems that grub is broken in Gentoo. I guess the Summary says it all. Apologies to bug 8663 for copying their "summary" as it is ;) Thanks Ajay Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Install grub, reboot Actual Results: No splash Image Expected Results: Expecting splashimage # emerge grub -p These are the packages that I would merge, in order: Calculating dependencies ...done! [ebuild R ] sys-boot/grub-0.94 Kernel 2.6.2-rc1-gentoo i686 AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2600+ AuthenticAMD GNU/Linux
I can confirm this. I've been trying to get it working for what seems like hours.
I also confirm this.
Though I'm not a grub maintainer, I took the liberty of adding the appopriate patch, I hope noone minds :)
Hm. I read all the messages and also the other bug. But what does that mean for me? Just wait to the next -r1 release of 0.94? Or can I do something else? Martin
You need to re-emerge grub again to get the boot splash fix. IMHO I think it should have been updated to -r1 to propagate.
we'll have an -r1 with some stuff on it (including the splashimage fix). I'm working on getting splashimage, gfxboot, as well as fixes for acl's and netbooting. Sorry about this -- many things on my plate :(
