It failed to emerge with the error I'm attaching. After removing from ebuild RESTRICT_PYTHON_ABIS="2.7-pypy-*" and put RESTRICT_PYTHON_ABIS="3.*" instead it compile smooth. Seems that some code is incompatible with python 3 or something.

I can't reproduce this with dev-lang/python:3.2 and libcap-ng-0.6.5 or 0.6.6. Everytime the bindings build fine and install: --- /usr/lib64/python3.2/ --- /usr/lib64/python3.2/site-packages/ >>> /usr/lib64/python3.2/site-packages/_capng.so >>> /usr/lib64/python3.2/site-packages/capng.py --- /usr/lib64/python2.7/ --- /usr/lib64/python2.7/site-packages/ >>> /usr/lib64/python2.7/site-packages/_capng.so >>> /usr/lib64/python2.7/site-packages/capng.py
CCing python@ if they have a clue
Which version of dev-lang/swig do you use?
(In reply to comment #6) > Which version of dev-lang/swig do you use? It's dev-lang/swig-1.3.36 Is this it?
Well, updating swig to current version (2.0.4-r1) solved the problem. I compiles ok with RESTRICT_PYTHON_ABIS="2.7-pypy-*"
Sounds like we've got some bad juju with the depends. Something somewhere needs to depend on the newer swig.
stop messing with the Importance: field, thanks
(In reply to comment #9) > Sounds like we've got some bad juju with the depends. Something somewhere > needs to depend on the newer swig. I'm not sure if this is the correct place, but: + 11 Mar 2012; Samuli Suominen <ssuominen@gentoo.org> libcap-ng-0.6.6.ebuild: + Raise dev-lang/swig dependency wrt #407693 by "godfath3rr"
(In reply to comment #10) > stop messing with the Importance: field, thanks I didn't, I just changed the status to resolved->fixed. If it's not the case, please change it.

If it's not the > case, please change it. https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_activity.cgi?id=407693 doesn't agree with you, but it's OK. Just leave it to 'normal' next time. Thanks again for reporting.

Support for Python 3.2 was introduced in SWIG 2.0.4_pre12643. I think that old versions of SWIG should block new versions of Python, instead of changing dependencies in SWIG reverse dependencies.
